My review

Dele is an ordinary boy. But he has a secret. His secret saves him from embarrassing situations. He is often bullied and body shamed by his peers. Instead of shutting himself off or reacting angrily, he looks into the reason. He gains his power from the very own subject that he is bullied. He considers his body as an asset and treasure. He regains his strength in all adversities. He is not the one who easily gives up.

This small story teaches our children a lot of valuable lessons. Dele has no friends. He certainly doesn’t excel in studies or physical activities. But he is a fighter. If you put him in a situation he will fight with all his might. He has the strength to overcome his weakness. He has the determination to learn things that he doesn’t know. He has the fire to excel in every challenge. These all are undoubtedly the best qualities everyone needs to excel in life.

The illustrations are bright and vivid which surely create a spark of imagination in children’s minds. The author has narrated an excellent and meaningful story along with these illustrations.

A perfect story for this Halloween!

Bubba in Phantom weenie is the celebration of this Halloween season. Written in the background of Halloween celebrations, this story is about three friends, Bubba, Hannah and Yellow boy. Their enthusiasm to celebrate the most awaited season is quickly intervened by another pirate dog, Amber. She tricks them for her selfishness. The three friends, together recover from the pitfall and celebrate the season happily at the end.

The beautiful story is accompanied with colourful illustration. The vibrant illustrations can strike a chord of imagination for sure. The author has made a small mystery thriller through very less pages and words. The story is written in a way to create curiosity to know what will happen next. In the climax, a valuable message of honesty and sincerity is also delivered. Loved the illustrations and story!

Little helper by Natalie P. Gump | Book review

In this story, our young boy wakes-up each day with sincere motivation to want to be of assistance, so much so that he considers it a very important position in life – as though it were his mission. In the delightful rhyming tale with colourful and inspiring illustrations, he sets out to be of service to each and every being that comes his way, including the worms! After all, being helpful gives his purpose and keeps him inspired to do the same each day.

Written for kids aged three to eight, the story makes a great early-reader’s book as well as a warm bedtime story to be read to them by a parent or caretaker.

My review

The worth of a human being is measured by how many lives he touched, not by the amount of money he made. The helping mindset is hard to create. Because it is the confession of our overall character. To inculcate this mindset in our children, we have to take steps from their early years. Little helper is one of those rare books that will help a parent immensely in this challenge. To help millions in our life, first, we have to start small, one step at a time. This book teaches that first step.

Our child’s education starts at home. This story follows a boy and his efforts to help his mom, dad, and little sister in their day-to-day activities. he illustrations are so captivating. This will help my child to think creatively. The story not only teaches us the importance of offering help to others, but also the qualities such as love, obedience, discipline, and fulfillment. Indeed a great addition to my collection.

Tapping Your Way to a Great Big Smile!: Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Tapping for Little Fingers by Ana Cybela | Book review

A great fun way to inculcate the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Tapping to our little ones daily routine! EFT is a therapeutic practice to cope with stress, anxiety, negative thoughts, and other volatile emotions. Our kids are prone to various external stresses even from a very young age. Bullying, academic works, peer pressures etc may cause them sudden erratic behavior at school and home. They are behaving like this because they don’t know how to deal with these emotions. this will eventually lead them to low self-esteem and confidence in their later years.

It is essential to identify the root cause of their changes in behavior and inculcate sustainable habits in their life from a very young age to overcome issues. This book introduces a very good technique known as tapping for this purpose.

This is written and illustrated through a first-person point of view. It helps our child to connect with the character’s emotions and compare themselves. This enables them to act independently in various difficult situations. Managing stressful situations are painstaking even for adults like us. Practicing EFT with our kids on a day-to-day basis will be a great way to manage our emotional balance too. This will also set an example for our children to look up to and eventually create stronger bonds with us.

ADHD Is My Super Power and It Comes with Great Super Strength by Alana Moore | Book review

This story is meant to bring greater awareness about ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). My son Josiah was diagnosed with ADHD at the young age of 3. I see so many powerful things in him that ADHD only enhances for the better. I want children with ADHD to recognize the superpower they possess that can be used for things far greater than they ever imagined. ADHD does not have power over you, you have power over ADHD!

My review

ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is perceived as a social stigma and breaking this barrier is essential in today’s world. Many children were undiagnosed and diagnosed ones are having a hard time adjusting to the school. This book not only presenting ADHD as a superpower but also raising awareness about the special needs of these children. You don’t need to give any special care to them, you just have to be patient with them. They are capable of learning but through their own pace.

What makes this book special is this is not a book that sympathizes with this disorder. This is an ability rather than a disorder. Children with ADHD are gifted with many strengths that others don’t possess ever. This book is a confidence booster for children. When a child is facing discrimination and bullying from school because of being different, this book could possibly give a much needed moral support. A touch, a small word, that is all needed to impart a positive mindset in a child. Amidst the negativity around ADHD, this book carefully spreads positivity. The illustrations are also beautiful. They give soul to the words. We need more books like this. So innocent and so beautiful!

Coiled by Marian Hanna MPH|Book review

People often confuse self-confidence to mean pride and vice versa but, the truth is pride and self-confidence are poles apart. The difference between pride and self-confidence is made clear in Coiled.

While self-confidence helps you to understand your strengths and makes you aware of your truth, pride is a brash covering for inadequacies; it never lasts. Self-confident people don’t need to brag about their strengths before you will notice their strengths, as they are conspicuous and accommodating.

The difference is crystal clear for all to see, like the ravishing beauty of a girl with curly hair that twirls. Hearts melt when the sun emblazons its natural light on their coils of confident people, but they are never one to make noise about their beauty because they know that loud talk never validates their beauty.

My view

Coiled is the celebration of curly hair! I came across this topic for the very first time. I have read many writings about breaking gender biases and stereotypes. But this author has chosen a very different topic to address these issues, curly hairs. This beautifully written poems are about celebrating the differences and ethnicities by accepting them. Although the poems gave importance to curly hairs, it also carefully acknowledges all others. This is the underlying message that every reader should accept from this book.

I have read Curse of curls from the same author before. So I felt that this is the continuation of that book. Here the author gave emphasize on developing self-confidence and mutual love. This message is presented through the close-knit bond of sisterhood and friendship, addressing little girls. As always the illustrations also contribute to the beauty of the book.

Takari’s Missing Bearcub (Takari & Little Sparrow Children’s Book Series 2) by Randa handler|Review

Takari, a Japanese American eight year old girl and her best friend, Little Sparrow, a Native American boy learn how to protect wildlife and the environment, and how to lessen their footprints while protecting, Mama Bear and her two cubs, whose habitat is being threatened by logging.

My review

The adventures of Takari and her best friend Little Sparrow continues in this book. This time they are trying to save a bear habitat. Takari and Little Sparrow spotted a Mamma bear and two bear cubs not too far from their home. But their habitat is getting gradually destroyed by logging. The bear and cubs are forced to change their habitat twice. In the chaos, one of the bear cub was separated from the family. Takari and Little Sparrow are trying to find this missing bear cub and put efforts to rejoin it to its family. Takari also put forward an initiative to protect bear habitat by reaching out to her friend circle and making them call to Mayor’s office.

This story teaches children many timely messages. First and foremost, the importance of environmental protection. It also acknowledges the loss of livelihood when certain environmental protection rules are enacted. The story teaches the importance of maintaining equilibrium for exploiting natural resources and to recycle them as much as possible. It also encourages kids to raise their voice collectively for bringing change. This is an important lesson for shaping their personality in later years.

Takari, a Japanese American eight year old girl and her best friend, Little Sparrow, a Native American boy go camping, embrace each other’s differences while learning about Flag Day, flag folding and why we need to follow rules even though we’re free.

My review

Flag Day camping by Randa Handler is a beautifully illustrated book that emphasizes education and friendship. Takari and Little Sparrow are best friends from day 1 of their school. They are going camping on Flag Day. The story beautifully conveys the importance of freedom and why we have to respect the hard-earned freedom. The story also talks about the inclusion of various ethnicities and why we have to stand together amidst diversity. However, the main message from the story is, although we respect our freedom, it is also important to obey certain rules to sustain and enjoy that freedom. Accountability is essential for maintaining everyone’s freedom. This little book has expressed these invaluable insights through this adorable story.

Lucky is a kind and happy turtle who lives in a small pond, on a big farm. He has many friends and many aspirations, but doubts he’ll be able to achieve them because he’s a small turtle, living in a big world. Lucky finds the courage to follow his dreams and on that journey, he discovers his inner greatness.

My review

We all have many dreams and goals. But often we are discouraged by the people around us. We lose focus due to this unwanted influence. People who can rise beyond these hurdles can only achieve their dreams. “Lucky the Turtle” illustrates this meaningful concept very well. This is a beautiful story of overcoming challenges and believing in oneself. These beliefs can work magic on your way. The beautiful illustrations certainly add brightness to the story.

Stories like this help our children to not only dream big but also to believe that every dream is achievable, no matter how big it is. But we can only achieve it through the right guidance, meticulous practice, and laser-sharp focus. No matter, how small you are, how slow you are, if you are perseverant enough, nothing can stop you from reaching your goals.

The story also conveys another message about good and bad friendships. How people around you can pull you down and how good friends can turn your mindest quickly. It is important to circle yourself with meaningful and supportive relationships to achieve every goal.

Through this small story, the author has imparted timeless wisdom to budding minds. A must-read for children and adults alike.

This is a beautiful illustrative storybook for our little ones and for ourselves. Parenthood comes with a lot of happiness and responsibilities. Our little ones become the center of our chaotic life in no time. They bring joy to every small thing. We reborn at the moment we became a parent. It is indeed a new turn in our lives. But this happiness came only with that much high responsibility. The upbringing of a child is a difficult process.

This creative, colorful, and meaningful illustration can make this job a lot easier. The author has put down very unique words along with the illustrations. Those words are the heart of pictures. They completely reflect the parent’s love for their child. Capturing these raw emotions is not easy. But the author has done it with ease. Show this book to your child and say I love you to them. Their eyes will widen and their heart will be filled with happiness. They never forget how you made them feel.

The beautiful moments of parenthood should be shared with our little ones without losing their essence. This is the best way for that.
