just your

little lilac lies

-April is lush (Adithya Tiwari)

April is lush is a collection of poems written by Aditya Tiwari. The first impression of this book is its cover and title. There is nothing graphic about the cover. But somehow I liked it a lot. The tinge of red merged with black yellow, green and grey colors is the expression of the author’s poetry. This somehow gives us a hint of a rainbow without opening the book. The seasons of human life, from a pupa to a beautiful butterfly or the different emotions one has throughout their life. The definition of the rainbow is limitless. The title is also apt for a poetry collection which describes very fragile emotions of human life.

I’m truly proud that I read this book in the pride month. LGBTQIA+ community has been sidelined in literature too as well as in other fields. Their voice s important as much as ours. That’s how we can merge them to us. Being a queer writer, Aditya’s pen bleeds the emotions of utmost difficult phase in human life. The emotions are raw and thus makes it most desirable. The power he attained from broken and healing throughout the phases of his metamorphosis has been strengthened his literary senses too. This has been evident from the small poems he wrote.

The poetry collection also includes poems on love, loss, heartbreak, trauma, woman and self-worth other than LGBTQIA+ thoughts. The flow of poems is what I admired most about this book. The phase of love and loss is always a favorite subject for poets. Its because it is the truest of all emotions one has. But the specialty of Adithya’s poems is he tried explored the phase of grief much more than others. The poems on trauma and loss have tons of difference. The small differences in our thoughts and emotions during the phase of loss is essayed beautifully in these small poems. This makes the poetry long-lasting in the thoughts of readers even after turning the last page.

The language used in poems is simple making even a beginner understand what it is meant. This is a must-read for every poetry enthusiasts.

Her trysts with the mystical lead her to making soul-stirring revelations. Discover how the protagonist’s life takes a 360 degree turn when she meets someone with whom she had spent 7200 life times? Experience how the experiences of her previous lifetimes imprint and control her present? Will Nuha be able to complete the puzzle of her deep-felt connection with the stranger?

My review

I have come across only a handful of books which leaves me with a longlasting impression after reading. Numi is one of them. This book is unique in its own unique way. I have seen many reviews on this book and always impressed by its gorgeous cover whenever I saw. When I finally get my hands on this book, the first thing which mesmerized me is its blurb. This book belongs to the genre which is rarely touched and one can really feel its pristine nature once you begin to absorb the story.

The plot revolves around Nuha, who is an uncommon protagonist. The weirdness which one can feel in the initial stages of her introduction will gradually fade away once the story progressed. Nuha is a middle-aged married woman but she always feels a void deeply inside her. One day she meets a guy who eventually introduced her to a mentor of spiritual healing. In an attempt to explore herself through spirituality, she finds herself deeply attached to her mentor, Minha. She is very eager to find out her strange, deep and soulful connection with Minha. She constantly connects herself with her past through the meditation. She later finds out that she had spent 7200 lives with Minha. The adventurous and mystic spiritual journey of Nuha starts here. The element of suspense is aligned perfectly in the plot without losing the true essence of the storyline.

The story has many surprising twists and in a way, I can say that these twists are leading the story forward. The title is uncommon and it is enough to generate curiosity. The moment when the title makes sense, precious. This is not a story which one can easily skim through. You have to really involve in the process of reading. You have to be someone who walks beside the characters to capture the story. This book indeed gives me a new experience in reading.

Shh! Sidepiece Be Quiet by Victoria Kirby

Title: Shh! Sidepiece Be Quiet

Author: Victoria Kirby

Paperback: 70 pages

Publisher: Bookwhip (19 November 2018)

Language: English

My review

“Love yourself if no one else will love you. Self-love is such an important factor in life. Without selflove how will you know how to love someone that you say that you love or have deep feelings for.”

Shh! Sidepiece be quiet can be described in a line as a complete relationship advice package. The content of this book took me by surprise. When I first came across the title and the cover, I never thought about this type of content. The author has penned down all most all the aspects of adult relationships. She talks from the viewpoint of a woman in the beginning. But after that, it explores through different perspectives.

I liked the way she presented the details of every bit of life we have. She has mixed her life too throughout this book. Often the author came up with a humorous touch to break monotonous narration. But throughout these odd 70 something pages, you can’t find a single piece of word which is not worth mentioning. Through these short read, the author talks about everything a woman needs to know, no secrets are safe from her. The author not only talks about mere adult relationships but also the challenges of a single mother and the importance of self-love. Knowing where we’re standing in a relationship is an important thing. Failing to know, will obviously lead to a miserable life.

The brutal honesty of the author surprises me sometimes. I have never read this kind of honest words from an author. You need only some one or two hours to complete this book, but that time is immense useful.

The Journey: Traveller With In by Tarun Deep Singh

“… Know him the True Warrior, who fights for the meek, Even being severed to pieces he does not leave the battlefield…”  – Gurbaani

download.jpg

Book Name: The Journey: Traveller with in
Author: Tarun Deep Singh
Genre: Self- Help
Publisher: Become Shakespeare

BlurbEvery human is a seeker of ‘Truth’. But almost all give up in the middle since they are threatened by their alter ego, ‘The Fallen One’. The first step is to accept that yes, ‘I’ am ‘The Fallen One’ and then proceed for soul searching. This is unstable equilibrium so the caution has to be practiced. So, I would like to reach ‘Youth of India’ in particular by presenting them what ‘search for self realization’ has to offer. It is not easy, perhaps the most difficult task to be undertaken, but the persistence is the key. The book also contains few concepts related to science and mathematics which should interest logical minds. It is also meant for those who have gone under the same set of experience while performing soul search.

My review

“The Journey: Traveller with in” is a pure philosophy of mind and body. This book cannot be merely classified into a self-help book as it is more than that. The author has flourished this book inside out with his years of wisdom. I have read many self-help books in the past and all of them are written in a peculiar style of commanding which is right and which is wrong. That’s why I can’t include this one to that category. The author never tells us what to do or what not to. This book hardly has any pieces of advice. It is a journey of self-realization.

When I progressed the reading, I have the feeling that this is truly the journey of the author Tarun Deep Singh from denial to ultimate wisdom and spirituality. Anyone who reads this book will surely feel the turmoil of various emotions.

Highlights

  • The synopsis given at the beginning of each chapter gives a glimpse of the idea expressed in the following lines. Throughout the book, the author gives footnotes and explanation of the idea he wants to convey. This really helps everyone to grasp the concept to its deeper meaning.
  • The book is divided into six different chapters, each of them dealing a particular point of his journey. The book touches various delicate aspects like Karma, Greed, Ego, Depression etc. Sometime or another we all felt these emotions. On that sense, it is truly a journey within ourselves.
  • The flow-charts and diagrams included at various points of the journey help to simplify a rather deeper concept to every layman.
  • The quotes from various spiritual masters such as Guru Nanak, Kabir, Buddha and from religious books like Gita makes the books even more interesting. At certain points, these quotes break the monotonous narration.
  • To make this one more interesting, the author has used science and mathematics explanations at appropriate places. This is undoubtedly a  unique combination. All these features make it more interesting than any other self-help books.
  • The narration style of the author is very unique and this book deserves a large audience.
  • I liked the cover and printing quality of the book. The title and the cover absolutely go hand in hand because this is a journey from darkness to light. Like the river depicted in the cover, the journey is from turmoil and storm to the calmness of enlightenment.

Rajini’s Punchtantra: Business and Life Management the Rajinikanth Way

10537.jpg

Name: Rajini’s Punchtantra: Business and Life Management the Rajinikanth Way

Author(s): P.C.Balasubramanian and Raja Krishnamoorthy

Publisher: Rupa publications

Being a south Indian, it was impossible for me to live without hearing the name “Rajinikanth” in my life. Most of the south Indians were watched his films at least once in their life. Just like his films, he made his brand and wealth through his hard work. One thing I have to mention specially is his renowned humbleness. Most of the lines he was given through films are now great dialogues. But as indicated in the blurb, I also have seen so many people who were quoting him in casual occasions for conveying a message in an interesting way (in fact, me also). That much the actor and his stylish film heroes influenced the life of common people.

Rajnis-Punchtantra-Enhanced-version.jpg

This book lists 30 top punch dialogues from Rajini movies. The authors P.C.Balasubramanian and Raja Krishnamoorthy then relates these punch lines with business and life management in an absolute creative way. Since both of them have built corporate organizations and have been successful for a long time, these piece of wisdom is a great insight into personal and business mastery.

Highlights

  • Out of box thinking, very creative
  • If you have ever watched a movie by Rajinikanth, then when you read his dialogues in this book, you will surely remember his pace, tone, and sound when reciting these lines
  • Each punchline is accompanied by a picture of Rajinikanth from his film
  • The core message of each punchline is highlighted at the end of the explanation
  • Very attractive cover for the physical copy
  • Surely a motivating read
  • Many explanations will surely surprise you!

A word of caution: Overall, this is a good light read for everyone, but I think if you are not familiar with Rajinikanth and his films, you will be unlikely to find this book interesting

The Six Secrets of Success by Anthony Ashmore

1146953181.jpgName: The six secrets of success: A Psychotherapist’s study of successful people and what they believe

Author: Anthony Ashmore

Most of the so-called self-help books ever written are end up being bestsellers in the book industry. But this short book is a unique bundle of wisdom from a psychotherapist who has done an extensive study on more than 100 successful people. The primary principles describing by the author were derived from critical and ideological studies of common philosophies they shared.

The six secrets from the book are:

  • The secret of “Essence”
  • The secret of “Perspective”
  • The secret of “Appetite”
  • The secret of “Presentism”
  • The secret of “Totality”
  • The secret of “Spirituality”

Each secret of success is explained with hypothetical and real-life examples. The author himself giving his experiences and memories, which makes him shape his philosophy about life. The book is written in a deep spiritual background which will give us an insight into the difference between the material success and ideological success.

“We are not humans beings having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings
having a human experience.”

The essence of the human being is the soul, which is an undying, changing form and transitioned to other states of being. From this point of view, he is stating that Karma is not what you deserve, contrary to the popular belief but Karma is what you attract. In order to bring something into our life first, we’ve to be the source of it.

“God is the dimension of goodness in all situations.”

The perspective of life is what makes the outcome of life largely. The view of life as a multidimensional larger picture creates a positive outcome in life gradually.

“What you feed grows stronger and what you starve dies.”

The control of desires which will break the chain of addiction is another secret.

“all time must pass through our present moment, of which seems to be moving forward within itself.”

The present minded focus is another secret. This concept is presented with a huge relativity of the present moment which is what we have now. This total acceptance of the present moment will create a pathway of success.

The continuous learning to master the craft, accepting the gradual level of development and adopting an attitude of all events will contribute to the outcome of success.

“Without my deep-rooted spiritual ideology, which developed over a long period of time, I would not be able to practice psychotherapy”

The last secret is described on the grounds of personal experience of the author and how he shaped his belief in midst of negativity. But the essence of all his experience will point us to the belief in God and all the successful people he encountered believe in some form of higher power.

This Amazon exclusive, 30 minutes self-help book is a must read to everyone who wants to improve their life and ideology a bit. The coveted word of success is what makes this book to pick for reading. But after 30 minutes of reading, you will definitely get an insight based on real-life examples, what is actually meant by success.

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

61y04z8SKEL._SX349_BO1,204,203,200_

“The starting point of all achievement is DESIRE. Keep this constantly in mind. Weak desire brings weak results, just as a small fire makes a small amount of heat.”

Think and Grow Rich has been called the “Granddaddy of All Motivational Literature.” It was the first book to boldly ask, “What makes a winner?” The man who asked and listened for the answer, Napoleon Hill, is now counted in the top ranks of the world’s winners himself. The most famous of all teachers of success spent “a fortune and the better part of a lifetime of effort” to produce the “Law of Success” philosophy that forms the basis of his books and that is so powerfully summarized in this one.

In the original Think and Grow Rich, published in 1937, Hill draws on stories of Andrew Carnegie, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and other millionaires of his generation to illustrate his principles. In the updated version, Arthur R. Pell, Ph.D., a nationally known author, lecturer, and consultant in human resources management and an expert in applying Hill’s thought, deftly interweaves anecdotes of how contemporary millionaires and billionaires, such as Bill Gates, Mary Kay Ash, Dave Thomas, and Sir John Templeton, achieved their wealth. Outmoded or arcane terminology and examples are faithfully refreshed to preclude any stumbling blocks to a new generation of readers.

There is nothing much to say about this book. Because as true to the hype, it is a well-received, well-written book in the world. It is one of the best self-help business books ever written. Some find it is hard to follow the principles the author is mentioning, but I have one thing to say to them, ie, no pain no gain. If you follow these techniques correctly, you will surely land in success. It is a no doubt strategy.

Some of the ever loving quotes from the book are quoted here:

“You are the master of your destiny. You can influence, direct and control your own environment. You can make your life what you want it to be.”

“When defeat comes, accept it as a signal that your plans are not sound, rebuild those plans, and set sail once more toward your coveted goal.”
Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich

“The way of success is the way of continuous pursuit of knowledge.”
