My review

What a thriller this is!

A Hidden Message by Elijah Shaw is undoubtedly one of the best stories ever crafted in the mythological fiction genre. It is a blend of African mythology, history, culture with contemporary fiction. We can witness how the modern-day scene is quickly transcending into age-old magical African history. The story is crafted in a way to create a perfect connection between these two entirely different worlds. This magical reality is introduced through the life of Nasir Johnson, a freshman from San Diego state university.

He is a guy who survives with his unique charm and wit. At first, his story seems like anything but ordinary. But then a quick surprise hit hard Nasir’s life. He is suddenly manipulated by some strangers to take part in a quest to unravel his destiny. He realizes that he is not what he thought of. This newfound excitement and knowledge led him eventually to assume his role in the age-old war for power and supremacy.

What makes this tale apart from others is its take on African mythology. It is one of the less explored areas in fiction. But this tale proves that it is more exciting than any of its counterparts. The credit surely goes to the author. He carefully crafted a good story out of this conflict around world mythology. I admire his storytelling skills so much because the story never loses its excitement and thrill. The humorous take on every issue enabled a smooth flow of the story.

I really liked the characterization, especially of the protagonist. His quick wit and light-heartedness along with firm determination sets him apart as a character.

Honestly, I think that this story ended too quickly. Because it has much more potential and it ended in this absolute possibility. I’m really looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

My review

Dele is an ordinary boy. But he has a secret. His secret saves him from embarrassing situations. He is often bullied and body shamed by his peers. Instead of shutting himself off or reacting angrily, he looks into the reason. He gains his power from the very own subject that he is bullied. He considers his body as an asset and treasure. He regains his strength in all adversities. He is not the one who easily gives up.

This small story teaches our children a lot of valuable lessons. Dele has no friends. He certainly doesn’t excel in studies or physical activities. But he is a fighter. If you put him in a situation he will fight with all his might. He has the strength to overcome his weakness. He has the determination to learn things that he doesn’t know. He has the fire to excel in every challenge. These all are undoubtedly the best qualities everyone needs to excel in life.

The illustrations are bright and vivid which surely create a spark of imagination in children’s minds. The author has narrated an excellent and meaningful story along with these illustrations.

Tapping Your Way to a Great Big Smile!: Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Tapping for Little Fingers by Ana Cybela | Book review

A great fun way to inculcate the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Tapping to our little ones daily routine! EFT is a therapeutic practice to cope with stress, anxiety, negative thoughts, and other volatile emotions. Our kids are prone to various external stresses even from a very young age. Bullying, academic works, peer pressures etc may cause them sudden erratic behavior at school and home. They are behaving like this because they don’t know how to deal with these emotions. this will eventually lead them to low self-esteem and confidence in their later years.

It is essential to identify the root cause of their changes in behavior and inculcate sustainable habits in their life from a very young age to overcome issues. This book introduces a very good technique known as tapping for this purpose.

This is written and illustrated through a first-person point of view. It helps our child to connect with the character’s emotions and compare themselves. This enables them to act independently in various difficult situations. Managing stressful situations are painstaking even for adults like us. Practicing EFT with our kids on a day-to-day basis will be a great way to manage our emotional balance too. This will also set an example for our children to look up to and eventually create stronger bonds with us.

My review

Warrior Princess Part 1 introduces an extraordinary superhuman, Sherla Maximus. She possesses superhuman strength which enables her to kick the planets out of its orbits at her will. She is now working as a planetary surveyor and world messenger. Her goal is to identify infant and technologically advanced cities and persuade them to join with Clan-X to fight against The endless army. If not their destruction is assured. But when she landed on an infant planet named, Akiki, everything changed. Her arrival is predicted and destiny brings unexpected challenges to her.

The story is very interesting. The characters are developed with a unique touch. Even Sherla is illustrated as physically and mentally strong women. She knows the potential of her power. But most importantly she knows how to use it and control her power for the greater good.

The story is crafted just like a thriller. The plot quickly twists and the entire story changes. Sherla got her powers as a gift from the Gods. Because she is meant for extraordinary feats.

Overall this was a fun and meaningful read.
